The Join Dementia Research (JDR) programme launched in 2015, and has a goal of reaching members of the public, so they can find out about studies they might be able to take part in. Dementia Scotland reported in Sept 18, that over 10,000 people have now taken part in research, and state that there are around 850,000 people in the UK who are currently living with dementia.
This makes research into dementia a priority to help find out what causes the disease and try to find treatments that could improve life, care and potentially, a cure in the future.
JDR was developed by the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research, in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society.
